The Mach Zen has HEPA (High Efficient Particle Arrester) filtration making it ideal for allergy sufferers. The combination floor head included vacuums both carpets and hard floors. Like all Vax products, the Mach Zen is supported by Vax’s UK based helpline open 7 days a week.

This hoover is fantastic! I was looking at Dysons but then came across this hoover, which got the same reviews as the Dysons: "powerful but falling over a lot, cable too sort, accessories not easy to use". So I thought, I'd give this one a go and it is a lot better than expected. The suction is really powerful - we need to have the brush stuck out, otherwise it sticks to the carpet. I think the cable length is generous, the bottom part of our house is ca 2000 squft and when I have it plugged in in the hall, I can reach the main part of the hall, the living room, the bath room and the kitchen no bother. The accessories are easy to use, put/take in and out; it's easy to clean - and i haven't had any problems with the hoover falling over (naturally, you need to manoevre it a bit but this hoover is a lot less clumsy than our previous one) - all in all a really smart, excellent buy!

This vaccum cleaner is excellent. Packaging was compact and minimalist just as it should be, build qualiy is excellent and suction is outstanding. It is extremely light to carry up and down the stairs and the tools provided are easy to use. It is definately much quieter than previous cleaners I have used and leaves carpets and wooden floors looking spotless. Compared to similar Dyson models I have used, the suction is much better.

This is a really good vacuum cleaner. It's strong and well made and very quiet. It's easy to use and very easy to empty. The extendible metal pipe is a good feature and there's plenty of cable length. On the downside the brush head doesn't make vacuuming long pile carpet against the grain all that easy - it tends to judder and not run smoothly (maybe it's just the carpet I've got). Also it's quite big (H32 cm x W29.5 cm x D52 cm) and doesn't stow away very tidily - I live in a small house and have to detach the hose and brush and store these separately. But overall, I've been impressed and would recommend it.

We bought this VAX C91-MZ-B vacuum cleaner to replace an old Panasonic upright, which was starting to fall to bits.

Good points:
- Quiet. I can hear the phone ringing while it is on, which I never could with the old one.

- Suction. Impressive. I would swear that our carpets were a shade lighter after it had been over them.

- Effective. The combination floor tool worka very well on both carpets and vinyl floors. We don't have pets, so I can't say how it deals with pet hairs, but it manages fragments of sewing thread and knitting wool.

- Long mains lead. Most of the house can be covered from a single socket.

Difficulties:
- Hard work. The suction is so strong that it sticks the carpet tool to the carpet so that it is heavy work to push it forward. - Storage. Although the machine itself is quite compact and sits easily in a cupboard, the flexible hose and telescopic tube tend to flop and fall around, and catch on things. I found the easiest way to store them was to hang them up on a coat hook, so they hung down the wall.

- Emptying. The dirt container is quite big, and needs both hands to empty. This is OK if you empty into a bin with plenty of space above, and a lid that stays open. For my first attempt I tried a flip-top bin under the sink, and ended up with dust all over the floor.

Overall I am very impressed and happy with the VAX C91-MZ-B and would recommend it to anyone able-bodied, but a frail person might find difficulty.

I have had this vacuum cleaner for a few weeks now in my two bedroom flat.
The motor is quiet, infact the suction head makes loudest noise, the vacuum pull is fantastic on both carpet and hard floors, and very easy to empty the cylinder, but be carefull of fine dust escaping into the air which you may breathe in. I have noticed overall dust level in the flat considerably reduced.

On the downside the machine is a tad too heavy but manageable on the stairs, the plastic pipe fitted on the metal nozzle sometime slips off, but these are minor faults. And I wish there was a control to reduce the vacuum suction so that I could vacuum the curtain and lighter carpets.

The cylinder capapcity is more than adequate for cleaning the flat, stairs and the loft room. In fact it would clean a whole house. I have every faith in it cleaning up pet hairs although I do not have any pets.

My last VAX 2000 is still going strong after 18 years but the motor is getting too loud, let's hope this VAX Mach Zen will last at least 10 years. The six years warrenty sounds very good.

These days, with so many misleading manufacturer's claims, it's great to find a product that really does do what it says on the tin!

Like many other reviewers, we bought this one to replace a Hoover that was so loud I had to wear earplugs, and the dog threatened to leave home. It really is as quiet as they claim. Of course, you're going to get wind noise from the suction, but compared to any other vacuum we've owned (and we've had quite a few over the years) this one stands apart in the quietness stakes.
