I spent ages reading reviews from owners of this home cinema system on Amazon and elsewhere. The majority of people gave it a high score, so I bought one.

The speakers are small and feel very light compared to a previous home cinema system I had. Unfortunately, this translates to the quality of speech from the front central speaker.
The conversations sound as though they are being held inside a box and do not sound natural at all. No matter how I've tweeked the settings and moved the speaker around, the problem is still there. It may be to do with the acoustics of the room, as the TV and front centre speaker are located in a shallow alcove between the fireplace and the wall (although holding the speaker in my hand away from its normal position does nothing to improve things). So if anyone has any ideas on improving the sound, let me know!

The other four satellite speakers' sound is not too bad, relatively speaking. The sub-woofer seems to have good bass. Picture quality is good.

In the end I have resorted to replacing the front centre speaker for one from a ten year old LG home cinema system, which has improved the speech sound.
All other aspects of this home cinema system are okay, although I've not tried many of the features out yet (like the USB recording, etc.).

I am currently awaiting the arrival of an optical audio cable to see how that will affect the sound quality.

I suppose you get what you pay for at the end of the day. Not a bad system for the money, but if you want the quality it looks like you've got to pay the price. Having bought in to the whole Sky Sports F1HD showing in 5.1 thing, I decided that I needed to get a 5.1 system. I'd not been that interested before. So all I wanted was a simple one which allowed me to plug a Sky HD box in. But it turned out to be rather more complicated than I thought.

Apparently you HAD to connect via digital optical to receive actual 5.1 and most of the cheaper ones didn't have it. In fact there is a really popular Sony one that everyone was buying a DO cable with when it didn't even have that input? And there seemed to be confusion as to what model did what. I went to look at another one in Currys which I was certain would be good but it was rubbish. Every forum thing I went on seemed to just be a long argument....

Anyway so somehow one night I stumbled upon the D350, it fulfilled all of my requirements and more. So to cut to the chase, here is how I have it set up, I have a middle of the road LG HDTV by the way.
